Aquamarine Ring – A great birthday and anniversary gift

Posted on: June 28, 2011

Aquamarine

Many people love gemstones rings.  They frequently prefer a gemstone ring base on the month they were born. Aquamarine is a birthstone of March.  The word of aquamarine comes from the Latin for "sea water. Aquamarine rings are available in different colour range from greenish-blue to blue-green.  Heat-treated aquamarine can remove less desirable color and result in better color of the stone. Some people also buy aquamarine ring for their 19 wedding anniversary gift.

Aquamarine ring style

Like other gemstone rings, aquamarine rings are available in different styles and designs.  Aquamarine may also be paired with others gemstones such as sapphire and diamond.  The most popular combination is aquamarine with diamond accents. For example, you can have a bigger round or square aquamarine enhanced with many smaller chocolates or white diamonds.  Three stones aquamarine ring is also a common design. You may put a bigger aquamarine on the center of the ring with two smaller stone on the side.  Aquamarine solitaire is quite rare to find.  However, a bigger emerald cut aquamarine with diamond accents is quite common.

Aquamarine ring - shapes and cuts

When you purchase aquamarine ring with bigger stone, please pay more attention on the cut and the shape. There are several choices of the shape of aquamarine rings.   Some popular shapes of the stones are round, square and pear shape.  The shape and the cut have different meaning.  The shape is the whole general appearance of your gemstones.  The cut will give many faces which allow the light to hit from many different sides. Many people do not really consider about the cut of aquamarine as much as diamond.  However, for the best choice, the cut is still important in giving you a perfect ring. Some choices of the common cut are emerald cut and cushion cut

Aquamarine ring's setting

What about the common metal setting for aquamarine ring?  Base on my observation, the most common setting is white gold.  White gold will go very nicely with aquamarine, result in beautiful contrast which makes the ring more attractive.

For a great birthday gift, surprise her in March with a ring featuring her birthstone, aquamarine.
